10 Most Amazing Waterfalls on Earth

1. Victoria Falls - Zimbabwe 

One of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is the largest waterfall based on width and height. Two national parks surround the falls.

2. Angel Falls - Venezuela 

The worlds highest uninterrupted waterfall in the world. It has 47 drops and the longest drop is 2,648 ft. 

3. Manawaiopuna Falls - Kauai Hawaii

This waterfall is also know as Jurassic Falls because it is the location used in the first Jurassic Park movie. Best way to view the falls is to do a helicopter tour. 

4. Detain Waterfall - China & Vietnam 

A very scenic waterfall located on the boarder of China and Vietnam. The summer months are where it gets the most crowed but it's definitely worth the trip. 

5. Mae Ya Waterfall - Thailand 

One of the biggest and most beautiful waterfalls in Thailand. The water cascades down into a natural pool that many local children love to swim in. 

6. Blood Falls - Antarctica 

One of the most unique waterfalls in the world is in Antarctica. Its red because of iron oxide tainted water flowing from the Taylor Glacier. 

7. Marvel Cave Falls - Missouri

An amazing waterfall located 500 ft under ground in the Marvel Cave system in Branson, Missouri. 

8. Turner Falls - Oklahoma 

At 77 feet it's the tallest waterfall in Oklahoma. The falls cascade into a natural swimming pool that is always packed during the summer months. 

9. Niagara Falls - New York & Ontario 

The most well known waterfall in North America is Niagara. Three waterfalls (Horseshoe Falls, American Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls) make up Niagara Falls.  

10. Iguazu Falls - Brazil & Argentina 

One of the "New Seven Wonders of the World". Eleanor Roosevelt is rumored to have said "Poor Niagara" when she visited the falls.

Good Views, Good Wine, Good Times

If you are from the North East and love to gamble than you have probably ventured over to Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut. But I guarantee very few people have visited Stonington Vineyard just a few miles away from Foxwoods.

Stonington Vineyards is a small yet elegant family owned vineyard. They have tours available and I recommend doing the tour to appreciate this families hard work. If tours aren't your thing don't worry it only last about 10 mins. Then it's on to the fun part.......Wine Tasting!!

Honestly, I've done my fair share of wine tasting but this is the only place where I loved every wine I consumed. The staff is extremely friendly and are pretty generous with the wine. I went last year in May with three other friends and we ended up spending four hours sitting on the patio drinking, enjoying the views and having a good time.

My Week From Hell

I'd like to think I have a lot of loyal readers and I would like to think that the many loyal readers were bummed that I haven't posted anything new in a while. The reason for the lack of activity on my blog is because I live 20 mins away from the terrorist attacks that rocked the Boston Marathon. I have a couple of friends that cheated death by just a few minutes that day and I have a few friends that witnessed things they should never have seen. Then on Thursday night I heard about the shooting of the young MIT officer and decided to get the real story by listening to the scanner of the Boston Police Depart. When I heard the suspects were in Watertown and engaged in a shootout, I immediately panicked because my Grandparents live there. I never felt true fear until that night. I live 15 mins from Watertown and my Grandparents only lived just a few streets over from where suspect 2 was found hiding in the boat. What happened on Monday and manhunt that ensued forever changed the people of Massachusetts. It made us better, stronger and more appreciative of the way we live our every day lives. Fear has left me and pride has taken over. I have never been more proud to say that I am from the great state of Massachusetts and in the words of Big Papi "This is my fucking city and no one will dictate my freedom!"

Take a Dip in Devil's Pool...If ya Dare

The Devil's Pool is a natural rock pool at the very top of Victoria Falls in Zambia. During the months between September and December, the flow of the Zambezi River is at a certain level to make a rock barrier just feet away from a 400 ft drop. Adventures flock here during these months to literally live life on the edge. For first timers it has to be extremely terrifying because the pool doesn't look like it has any barriers to stop you from being swept over. Check out the video below, just watching it almost gave me a panic attack.

Beers, Football & A Good Time

Tampa is one of those big cities in Florida where you either hate it or love it. I lived there for 4 years and I am one of those people that hated the city. I'll get into why I hated Tampa at another time but lets just say it is no Boston, Massachusetts. The one silver lining for Tampa is a bar located in the Soho district that goes by the name MacDintons.

When I went to the University of Tampa (2005-2009) my go to bar was MacDintons. I even lived a blocked over from it my senior year. This bar is just a fun and cheap place to go to. During the day it is very chill and laid back but at night you are competing with the hottest of the hot in Tampa. 

Every night they have different special (you can view them all here) and my personal favorites were Happy Hour on Fridays and on Sundays when you could bring your dog to the bar. It use to be every Sunday you could bring your dog but I think they have changed it to only a couple times a month. But  enough about dogs getting shit tanked at the bar, lets dive to Happy Hour.

It's safe to assume I got very and some might dare say extremely intoxicated during Happy Hour. It starts at 6 and the line to get in can be very long. I would always get there 10-15 minutes before 6 to try and be at the front of the line. Happy Hour can get very crowed but Macdintons has several bars located inside and outside so it never feels like you can't get a drink.

Trust me when I say that if you are ever in Tampa, you have to check out MacDintons on South Howard in the Soho district. And for all the amateurs out there take a little advice from a seasoned vet and pace yourself. You don't want to be one of those fools that are passing out an hour into it! Even if the Happy Hour is not your thing, their food is amazing (try the Philly Cheese Steak for only $8.50). MacDintons is also home to fanatic football (Soccer for Americans) fans. At the heart, this is truly a football bar because they play every European game that is available to watch on TV. Stop by for a drink and let me know if you like my old stomping grounds.

You Know its Spring in Boston when....

You know it's spring in Boston when the lights at Fenway Park turn on. The Fenway faithful fill the park and the Red Sox drama begins. Fenway Park is the oldest ballpark in America and people travel near and far to just gaze upon its historic field. The greatest baseball players have played here and some of the most notorious games have also taken place here.

Fenway Park is actually pretty affordable for someone on a budget. During the day an hour long guided tour is offered for less than $20. If you have a ticket to the game you should try to go early because you basically have unlimited access to anywhere in the park for batting practice. You can go on the Green Monster, hang out right behind home plate, chill by Pesky's Pole and harasses the visiting pitchers by the bull pen.

Don't believe the rumors about tickets being hard to get. Standing room, bleachers and grandstand are always available. The standing room tickets are pretty cool. You have access to walk around the grandstand level and mingle with all sorts of fans. The grandstands are pretty nice too, especially on hot summer days because you are in the shade. Now bleachers are the cheapest and the seats are truly the most entertaining.  I guarantee you will see many drunk fans with wicked bad Boston accents yelling, getting kicked out and giving hell to Yankee fans. This is where the "blue collar" fans sit and it's my favorite spot to watch a Yankee game. 

Yes, beer and food is ridiculously expensive here and thats why I try not to buy any. Some ball parks are surrounded by parking lots, but not Fenway. Bars, and restaurants are all right outside and they offer some really cheap deals. I would recommend you don't drive and park by Fenway, parking can be up to $50 some days. If you are down to walk a little there are free parking garages not to far and some garages near Boston University are as cheap as $10. Boston also has great transportation, so try to take a cab or the T to Fenway. The Green Line on the T has two stops that are both about a 5-10 minute walk to the park.

The Best Pizza in Maui

Located on the Hana Highway in Paia is the home of the islands best flatbread pizza. Once you walk through the doors of Flatbread Company you know you are in for a treat. The restaurant has a very homey, laid back vibe but they take their pizza very serious. I know if you read some reviews about the Paia location, customers have complained that it is always crowed. I found that not to be true when I went. I walked in with 3 other people and a toddler and we were seated right away. The staff was nice and took time explaining the menu to us first timers.

The pizza is truly the best. They offer a wide variety of pizza, and the prices aren't bad either. My friends and I did a half and half. We got half Coevolution and half Mopsy's Kalua Pork. I really can't even tell you which one I like better because they were both so fresh and delicious.

If you find yourself in Paia and you are looking for a place to chill and eat, Flatbread Company is the place for you. However, if this post just made you incredible hungry and you are not in Maui, there are several locations on the mainland. Most of them are in New England and one is in British Columbia.

Gateway to Hell in Turkey

Gate to Hell Found in Turkey By Danny Cox

A "gate to hell" has been discovered by archaeologists in ruins in southwestern Turkey according to Discovery News reported on Monday, Apr. 1, 2013. Known as Pluto's Gate - Ploutonion in Greek, Plutonium in Latin - the cave was often celebrated as a portal to the underworld. That's of course, through Greco-Roman mythology and tradition. 

Historic sources located the "gate to hell" site in the ancient Phrygian city of Hierapolis, which is now known as Pamukkale. The opening of the gate to hell in Turkey was described as filled with lethal mephitic vapors. The Hellenistic city of Hierapolis grew into a flourishing Roman city complete with a theater, temples, and a popular sacred hot springs that was believed to have healing properties.

At a conference on Italian archaeology in Istanbul, Turkey in March, the finding was made by a team led by professor Francesco D'Andria. He is a professort of classic archaeology at the University of Salento.

D'Andria told Discovery News that he and his team are currently working on the digital reconstruction of the site known as the gate to hell in Turkey.

The Petrified Forest of Arizona

Arizona is a state who's rough landscape makes for some of the most beautiful places in the Southwest. By the four corners of the state lies the Petrified Forest National Park. In the northern part of the park is the breath taking Painted Desert.

The Painted Desert region is in the Navajo Nation and they have lived here for almost 1,000 years. Most of the desert is accessible only by foot or off road vehicles. A permit is required for all back road travel in the Navajo Nation, so make sure you get one. As you can tell the Painted Desert emits beautiful colors and watching a sunset/sunrise will be one of the most unforgettable experiences in your life.

The Painted Desert is not the only attraction in the park. The forest is know for its fossils and for the many fallen trees (Petrified Wood) that lived 225 million years ago. This is heaven for Paleontologist because they have been unearthing and studying the park's fossils since the 20th century. When you are hiking and/or backpacking through the park you may even come across an archeological dig. Evidence from the digs suggest that the earliest humans in the park arrived about 8,000 years ago.

Also scattered within the park are petroglyphs. These petroglyphs are believed to be between 500 and 2,000 years. You can make a fun game out of trying to find the most petroglyphs out of your friends. You'll be surprised how many there are. Along with the ancient petroglyphs are the ruins of pueblos that were built sometime in 1380 CE. 

When you are visiting this park you will be tempted to take home a piece of history but please refrain from stealing the petrified wood. There are gift shops in the park were you can buy petrified wood if you really want to get some.
